Needing Help.

I'm not sure what I've done, installed something or deleted something, but
now when I open the windows start button and highlight My Computer and
try to right click to open and bring down the window showing open, explore,
search, manage map network drive, disconnect network drive, show on desktop,
rename and properties, it does not open or show these items.

Any ideas on what I've done, or how to rectify the problem?

Thanking you in advance.
Rick

the prob is with my explorer(windows not internet) or something else but my g/f ha

Oh well I could fix one thing in my sleep as only one place it could be. Multiple things though....

It's probably a shell extension. Maybe tring to find it's dialler that you killed.

Get regmon and filemon from www.sysinternals.com. Run them and right click. Hopefully the last thing it shows in the window is the problem. Type explorer in the Edit menu - Filter dialog. When you crash explorer it won't have anything to write (don't start explorer just yet) so the last few entries should have the problem.

yeah it is a shell prob the explorer accesses reg finds 1 key/value but cant find the other

as you can see from above paste whatever that dhcp server is,its messing up my system so how do i fix it

This is a paste from the file mon log

155 19:00:11 Explorer.EXE:692 OPEN C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll SUCCESS Options: Open Access: All

160 19:00:11 Explorer.EXE:692 CLOSE C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll SUCCES

should i delete registry entry for dhcp? or replace the shell32.dll file? im useless at this sort of thing so any suggestions would be grateful

That's unlikely to be it. It looks at things per user then for the machine. Many settings are normallt per machine. It finds it two lines later.

In the filter box remove the check on Log Sucess.
