Is there any way to edit this menu and change the order and remove what some
of what is now there. At one point things were added and now the open
selection in no longer at the top where I need it.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Thank you very much for this information about editing the registry. I am
still not quite understanding what to do here. I am trying to remove the
entry that says "Add to Beyond Media Main Menu" and maybe reorganize the
order and add to this dropdown menu if I can. So to start if I want to
remove one after I have exported what is in [HKCR\Folder] I can just delete
the folder in the registry that has name of what I want to remove? In this
case when I right click on a folder I see other things that are not list in
this part of the registry like "Search" and "Print Directory Listing".

For static context-menu entries, first try using the "File Types" tab in the
Folder Options.

Click Start, Run and type CONTROL FOLDERS
Select the File Types tab
Choose "(NONE) Folder" from the listing
Click the Advanced button
In the resulting dialog, select the unwanted entry from that list, and then
click "Remove"
Click OK, OK.

In the event that the Remove button is dimmed, then your only route is to
edit the registry (refer to the URL that Malke posted). Backup the
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder" branch to a REG file, and then select the
appropriate entry and then delete it.

FYI: The "Search" and "Print Directory" entries actually come from this
location:

HEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory.

Here's an easy way to remove the entries you don't want. Use the free
ShellExView from Nirsoft here:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

I think this utility is mentioned at Ramesh's website, but in any case
just download it and run it (it doesn't need to be installed). Look at
all the non-MS entries. Find the entry you don't want for the context
menu and disable it.

As for adding things, I believe this context menu integration has to be
coded into the specific application so this isn't something you could
do. I may be wrong about this and if so, I'm sure someone will correct
me.

Thank you that was a great explanation. I just had the courage to delete
the entry and it seems to have worked fine. I would also like to find out
how to restore the selection of VirtualDub that was an open with option at
one time. I have reinstalled but still not there.

Thanks again, That is a great looking tool.

You're welcome. Regarding the open-with question, is your question about the
Open-With sub-menu or the Open-With dialog box ? Generally, the application
usually gets added to the list once you using the "Browse" option and locate
the executable file for the application (VirtualDub).

You are correct once again. This did happen now but did not before for some
