Hi,

Can anyone please help me, after I installed Service Pack 2 and enabled
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on my PC, the folder properties are not
working at all.

I've tried disabling ICS (no changes).
Tried disabling Context Menu items (also no changes)

I've also done all the altest Windows updates! :(

I know it will help if I reinstall WIN XP Pro and only SP1. :'(

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Will

Thanks but its still not working.

If I open the System Configuration Utility and select Selective Startup,
after rebooting and with no services running, it works...

What do you suggest, that I go through each service including WIN.INI,
SYSTEM.INI???

Thanks for quick response!!!! :)

Hendrik

I've noticed that the only two functions that are not working are;

a) Sharing and Security
b) Properties

Then rest of the options in the pop-up menu works fine. What to do, what to
do?!

I've gone through the web site you referred, tried running some of the other
registry hacks, but also no response from WIN XP Pro.

Any ideas?

Nope, this was the first thing I tried;

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm

then tried Will's suggestion from the kelly web site...

:'(

Looks like I will have to reinstall, I ahve the absolute basic applications
on my PC, recently formatted it.

Thanks a lot for your time and suggestions, much appreciated...

* I tried to uninstall IIS and it did not even finish uninstalling, suddenly
the properties windows appeared... Extremely weird....

I need IIS and hopefully this wont happen again in the future!

Hi Folks:
I used the hints on this thread. And it resolved this same problem.
Please do read the whole thread as the info in it is most excellent.

I would however recommend trying the simplest and least dangerous
solution 1st, which is to let your Firewall Program (Norton Internet Security
in my case), to "Allow All" for inetinfo.exe and reboot.

An easy way to see if this is potentially your problem is to look for
the Status of World Wide Web Publishing Services. If it says "Starting", then
you have this problem. After allowing all for
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe" in my Firewall program settings,
and rebooting, not only did my Properties Window show up again, but the
system boots much more quickly.

Thanks for the info, Speedy. We know this is related to IIS W3C shell
extension, but your added note would help too.
