When i right-click on a desktop ICON nothing happens. At
this point I cannot double click on any ICON, the desktop
is locked. I need to log-off and log-on to free the
desktop. I also have a problem when I try and right
click on any file with windows explorer, I get no
response. I then cannot exit windows explorer

I have scanned my machine for virus (Norton), spyware
(Spybot, Spysweeper, Ad-Aware). My machine has all
updates including sp2 for Windows XP Pro.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some posters have mentioned that Spysweeper's right-click menu entry has
caused this problem. Disable the integration into the shell (you can
probably do this from within Spysweeper) and see if that solves your
problem. Here's a link to information on the Spysweeper support site:

https://supportcenteronline.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=776

They say there was a bug in an earlier build and they have an upgrade
that solves it.
