By mistake I was in the add/remove programs and seemed to have removed a
program using the richtx32.ocx file...now I get an error popping up every 10
seconds saying runtime error 339 component richtx32.ocx not correctly
registered or damaged file...in my taskbar it says outlook.........I have no
idea where this file goes where it was or how to fix so any help would be
great...thanks!

IMO, if you did all that "by mistake" (i.e., if you were in add/remove
programs "by mistake" where you then removed a program "by mistake"),
then trying to help you
out of this will only lead to more mistakes. Call Microsoft tech
support.

The procedure for fixing this problem should be to unregister the OCX
with
regsvr32 \u, delete it from your win32 directory, download a copy and
replace it in the same directory, then re-register the OCX with
regsvr32.

Ok bad choice in words....I was in add/remove not by mistake but must have
deleted a program using that file I was not aware of . I do have some
computer knowledge I wasnt just on a deleteing spree there..... usually when
deleting programs it will warn you of other programs that may still need a
certain file and to make sure before deleting....since I didnt get the
warning of possible file sharing I continued to free up space ......I was
hoping to get help here before having to stay on hold with microsoft
forever.......Thanks in advance if anyone has any help on this

That file usually resides in windows\system32 and is a very common activex
(aka ole automation) control used by programs developed in Visual Basic and
other MS tools. You might be able to copy it from another PC and then
register it, although there could be version issues. On my XP machine I
have Ver 6.0.88.4 for what it's worth.

Hi,
You can download the file from the link given below. Please make sure you
make a backup of the existing file under c:\windows\system32 (if it exists
and a backup could be created easily by just renaming the file).

www.secrets101.com/VBRuntime/RICHTX32.OCX

Follow these steps after downloading the file:

In the run dialog type regsvr32 \windows\system32\RICHTX32.OCX

This should give you a DllRegisterServer ... succeeded message.

That's it. Enjoy!!
