RFI: OSDEAX.EXE

The application EAX recently began showing up as a running process in Task
Manager. It is associated with the OSDEAX.EXE process.

Maybe this is a normal part of the WinXP OS, but I've never noticed it in
Task Manager before, and new processes make me nervous. (That doesn't mean
it hasn't been there, I just haven't noticed it before.)

What is this? Why might it suddenly begin appearing in Task Manager? Is it
something I neeed to fix?

EAX is the enhanced sound feature of most Creative Labs Audigy, Audigy 2,
Audigy 2 .. and maybe the X-Fi sound cards.

The osdeax.exe file is related to your Creative sound software. Perhaps
you updated your soundcard drivers and/or any Creative software. A
quick Google for "what is EAX" brings up this Creative site which
explains the technology:
