Reversing dual boot

The situation is this. I was told to update a computer
from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. Normally I would let the
machine boot up and then insert the Windows XP CD for the
update install. I was instructed by a boss to go this
route and now things are just awry.

I was told to boot to the CD and then run the setup. I
did not create a new partition, and trusted the
information I was given due to my position at the firm.
This caused the machine to become a dual boot. ugh.

That boss reinstalled the Ghost image that was made before
the XP install, in hopes I think to have it return to
normal. It didnt and it wont boot up. Now I am in a
mess, due to the guy will be back tomorrow for his machine
and this has been tumped into my lap.

Help? How can I fix this issue? Where do I start?

If the machine still boots u can do a clean install using
the cd problem may be if they are files in the machine
that need to be kept back up all data on the drive to cd
or any other medium and do a clean install on the machine
