How do I return messages to the server, if I want to stop using Microsoft
Mail? I don't want to lose any mail.

There is no feasible way to return messages to the server, but
there is a setting in Windows Mail to stop it from removing
messages from the server:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Advanced,
enable "Leave a copy of messages on server."

dear all,
As a lot of people, I can't send mail with window's mail .
I had a laptop with outlook express and all were OK for receiving and
sending mails.
Now with my new computer under Vista and with windows mail all is more
complicated!
I called my french internet provider but his answer is : "your parameters
are correct, call Windows helpdesk!"

here are my parameters :
POP = pop.aliceadsl.fr
SMTP = smtp.aliceadsl.fr

and the message received :
Une erreur inconnue s'est produite. Objet 'test si ca marche', Compte :
'pop.aliceadsl.fr', Serveur : 'smtp.aliceadsl.fr', Protocole : SMTP, Réponse
du serveur : '554 mail.libertysurf.net Service not available - access
denied', Port : 25, Sécurisé (SSL) : Non, Erreur de serveur : 554, Numéro
d'erreur : 0x800CCC6F

thank's in advance for your answer
Fanny

That 'mail.libertysurf.net' mentioned in the error message is an alias
for smtp.aliceadsl.fr. It is the same server. It isn't immediately obvious
why the server is saying "Service not available - access denied".
It appears that the server is rejecting connections from outside its
network. When you got that error message, was your Internet connection
coming from Aliceadsl.fr or some other connection provider?
