For many the proliferation of web articles with
networking instructions are admirable. I was once a
harvester of that information as I had children who
needed web and computer interaction.
BUT, now they are gone, I am left with a computer that is
all but trashed out and I can not find ANY articles
except MS KB article 263276 that deals with UNDOING the
mess. Is there a method that a dummie can use or must I
hire a tech to go through all of the registry to make me
sane? Please help. Longhorn is near and my poor Windows
XP is in need of sad repair. Thanks, Russ Whitney

You're probably better off formating the drive and starting fresh. All
programs will have to be reinstalled and data restored from backup.

You can attempt to clean this up if you want, though. It's time consuming.
Start with add/remove programs and remove what you don't need. Then
download and run a spyware utility. AdAware is pretty decent.

That KB article applies to Windows 98, not to Windows XP.

What mess are you trying to undo? If you'll post a news group message
with the details, I'm sure that someone can help. Describe the
network setup, what version of Windows each computer runs, what works,
what doesn't work, etc, and give the complete text of all error
messages.
