Greetings and happy new year,

I have 3 accounts set up in Outlook 2003. 2 are hotmail and one is a web
server I use for my business. The pop3, web server account, is set for
default.
Problem; When I send a business e-mail using my pop3 account, during my send
tests to my hotmail account or pop3 account, the header (e-mail properties)
will say it came from my hotmail account. Also, when I do send out my
e-mails to my business clients, when they answer with a return, it comes
back to my hotmail account.
Question: Is there any way I can make the e-mail say it came from my
business( pop3)?

There is one issue that the MVPs/MS is aware that could cause Outlook to
jump to the next account to send a message. Can you turn on diagnostic
logging, duplicate the issue, and then post the OPMLog?

PS - What raises this bug is that the SMTP throws back a 550 error and
Outlook just motors to the next account. Generally you have to authenticate
to the SMTP server in order to send.

PSS - Please make sure that SP1 for Office/Outlook 2003 is installed before
turning on diagnostic logging. There is an issue that could expose your
userid and password.

Try authenticating to the SMTP server and see if you can send a message.

PS - What raises this bug is that the SMTP throws back a 550 error and
Outlook just motors to the next account. Generally you have to authenticate
to the SMTP server in order to send.

PSS - Please make sure that SP1 for Office/Outlook 2003 is installed before
turning on diagnostic logging. There is an issue that could expose your
userid and password.

Thank you.... your suggestion worked! I ran approx. 12 tests from both
accounts hotmail and my pops web server and they both came back with respect
of which account I chose to send (return was consistent with the account I
used for sending).
The only strange thing which still goes on is during the sending process the
pop up box says sending my 2 hotmail accounts first then my pop account, but
as long as the end results work, I guess this quirk is acceptable unless you
have another idea.

It's not a quirk, it's part of the design. All three of your accounts are
in the default Send/Receive group, so all three will be processed with each
Send/Receive you perform.

I guess I should have been clearer on the quirk.

If I send a message, choosing my pipe and tanks account, the pop up box for
sending and receiving will indicate my 2 hotmail accounts completed both
send and receive, then my pipe and tanks account will indicate on the send
as processing. During this time, the bottom of the send/receive pop up box
will read "hotmail sending" even though both hotmail accounts have been
completed. Then when I am receiving a message to my pipe and tanks account,
it will read "pipe and tanks receive processing" and at the bottom of the
pop up box will still read "hotmail sending". The only way the bottom of the
pop up box will change to pipe and tanks is when I choose under send/receive
and pick "pipe and tanks only" then at the bottom of the pop up box it will
read pipe and tanks sending when it is actually receiving? As long as the
process completes without failure I can live with it. Sorry if this is a bit
confusing.
