How can I find a document that was not saved to the computer but did some
changes to the document?

Have you tried using smoke and mirrors?

It has gone to bit/byte heaven...but the good news is that you
should still have the original. Just load IT and make your
changes only this time save the amended document before ending
the session.

This is a VERY long-shot. Some software will do an autosave as you
work. When you decide to not actually save the changes, the original
file is there . . . BUT sometimes you can find the autosave file
that was used while you were working.

Actually it is bad coding on the part of the programmer since the
autosave file should be deleted when you exit the application, but
you would be surprised how many programmers forget to do that.

You don't say which program you were using, but you might check to
see if that app has such a feature and if so what the file name
structure of an autosave file name is.

Last time I had one of my users ask me this question, I actually took
away their computer for 2 hours.

If it was never saved, how can you get it back, where would it be? As
Drayton was suggesting, there maybe an autosave, but you would have to
look through all your tmp files and pray real hard.

And that user was probably no older than six years old, right?
