Retrieving an original document

I saved a new document as the same file name as another
saved document, which as a result replaced the original
saved document. Is there any way to retrieve the original
document, or is there a way to retrieve the original
(archived) document created?

Yes, from yesterday's disk backup.

If you had "Always create backup copy" enabled (Save tab of Tools |
Options), then you would at least have the previous version of the document
saved as "Backup of <filename>.wbk."

Sorry, but I was referring to the separate backup of your hard disk
and/or the LAN server independant of Word. You or your computer support
organisation does take backups, right? The backup will be wherever you
put it.

Suzane also referred to *.BAK files automatically taken by Word (as long
as you had that option on).

If aren't taking backups, you should start now. You should also turn on
Word's backup file capablity.
