Have this pc which after a spell, no body seems to know the password word. In
normal mode, there is only 1 user "Aunty" and which we do not know the
password. In safe mode, there will be the "Administrator" and "Aunty", and
both are password protected. How can I get access to the pc apart from
reformatting it. The only thing that is valuable is our photos. Please help
and TIA

The default password for the Administrator account is no password. Just press Enter.

You could install the hard drive as a slave into another computer and copy the files off it.

"Administrator"- when I hit enter, the box appears asking for password, which
seems odd. Looking at other links and hope to find something useful. Well
dont fancy spending money to retrieve the info and hope I can find a way out
here, thanks.

Use this boot disk to reset the password to a blank:

If you don't fancy spending money to retrieve the info,
start planning ahead:
- Back up all your important files regularly, i.e. every
week. It's too late when disaster stares you in the face.
- Create a second admin account and lock its password
away. It's the same as with your car - I'm sure you have
more than just one single set of keys.

Greetings,

If the password is lost or expired it is possible to reset it using
Active@ Password Changer utility. That is a really useful tool, it is
small yeat easy to use util. It literally saved me before so you can
really give it a try.

There are password crackers that can do brute-force cracking, but there
is no need to use this in your situation. Download NTpasswd (free) and
set the Administrator password to a blank. Then log in and go to the
User Accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords to something
you will remember.
