My old computer has died and have bought a new one and a
new copy of Windows XP is installed onto a new HD.

The old HD also has 3 users accounts on it and I am
trying to re-import the mail in Outlook Express to the
new system but attempts have failed.

Outlook Express does not allow me to import it even when
I locate the mail location on the old disk from local
disk under \Documents and Settings\User1\Local
Settings\Application Data\Identities\....

I have also tried to simply copy the files over but
Outlook express won't load even load.

I believe this is due to the fact that the user on the
new system is of a different identity.

Does any one know how to transfer a user / mail from an
old HD properly? (I believe the the transfer wizard could
do it between computers but my old computer CPU has died
and the HD won't boot on other machines even though the
data is there.)

Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

Peter.

Backup and Restore OE
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/backup/index.htm

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

Peter,

I would suggest working in Office Outlook, these kindof
thing work a bit easier in Outlook.

Your old HDD won't bootup in you new system because it
doesn't recognise the system. What you can do is to use
the HDD as a secondary HDD to your current bootable drive.

Unfortunately you can only export your Outlook Express
messages into Microsoft Exchange or Outlook. If you
exported into one of those two programs you will be able
to import it into Express again. I don't entirely
understand how you have origanally did the export.
