When I get instructions on how to solve a certain problem it may be
contained in an email from Newsgroup contributor and may involve dozen of
different steps. To facilitate carrying out the instructions I produce the
individual email, cancel out OE and bring up the problem involving e.g.
Excel worksheet. However every time I click something on the worksheet the
email with the instructions disappears into the task tray. Is there a way of
retaining the email on the worksheet, whilst I am carrying of the
instructions to solve my problem?

I don't know the answer to your question; however, why are you closing OE?
Why not leave it open and toggle between it and whatever you are doing to
comply with the instructions in the message? You could also just print the
email/post.

I was hoping that there is a way of retaining the email without toggling or
printing. Toggling is not always suitable way and printing wastes paper and
that does not help the environment -:)

With only the two windows open, right-click the Taskbar, click "Tile
windows horizontally".

Thank you for the tip. There is one problem with this way, i.e. in some
cases I need access to the whole of the Toolbar on say Excel worksheet not
to a half of one.

Still, it's a start. From there, move the two panes around, resizing
and aligning the Excel toolbar over the unused area of other window,
till your best fit is achieved. There's no other way to create a larger
view, or fill in better.

And just how often does this happen? Many fixes require rebooting the
computer and your best bet is to just print out the instructions. Use
double-sided printing, draft mode, or whatever minimizes use of resources.
