Hi,
I'm pretty sure that in NT4.0 you could restrict what programs certain users could run on a pc.

Is there anyway to do this in Windows 2000 using AD ?
I've poked around everywhere to look for articles and in Group Policy but cannot seem to find out where it is....

please let me know if this is possible.
Thankyou

Jeremy,

You can use Software Restriction Policy to restrict user running an
application. Software restriction policies are a new feature in Microsoft®
Windows® XP and Windows Server 2003.

However, it is possible to use software restriction policies in a
mixed-mode deployment. That is, you do not have to upgrade your Windows
2000 domain controllers to take advantage of software restriction policies.
You can use a Windows XP Professional computer to edit the Group Policy
object and configure your software restriction policy. Windows XP and
Windows Server 2003 computers that download the GPO will enforce the
software restriction policy. Computers running Windows 2000 will ignore the
settings.

For more information, I would suggest you to visit the link given below:

In W2K unfortuneately you can not use Software Restriction Policies. You can
populate the allowed and disallowed Windows application lists in user
configuration/administrative templates/system. Be sure to read the full
explaination of those settings and keep in mind that users that can access
renamed executeables can bypass the policy. It may also be helpful to
disable command prompt and registry editing also and add setup.exe,
install.exe, and command.com to the disallowed list. --- Steve
