trying to restore to an earlier date and computer won't
do it. why?
Does it give an error message? What's the skinny?
Look in the event viewer for error conditions related to
the system restore service.
Type eventvwr.msc in the RUN box - press enter
Click on "system"
Look for records in the right pane with a "source" of
SR or SRSERVICE.
When you find related records, double click on them
and it'll give you more information.
This should help you to diagnose the problem.
Sometimes the best thing to do is a complete reset.
Make sure the system restore service is set to automatic.
Enter services.msc from the RUN box to check.
Right click my computer/system restore tab.
Check the box
"turn off system restore on all drives"
Reboot.
Go back to the system restore tab, deselect the
"turn off .." option. And hit APPLY.
Select the individual drives and hit SETTINGS.
Adjust the space allocation to suit your objectives.
PS if the space on ANY drive that is monitored by SR ever gets
to less that 200 MBs, system restore is disabled on ALL drives
and (I think) all previous restore points are lost.
