Restoring Windows ?

How can i restore windows on my laptop using the serial number that is
on the bottom of it,i want to be able to do windows updates without
having to download scripts etc,the laptop i have didnt come with any
discs
 
This is tough to do without any CD's, etc. Why do you need to download
scripts for Windows Updates? You should be able to just go to the Windows
Update website and update your system.

A computer vendor has to provide you with some means of restoring the
system. They have 3 options.

1. XP installation CD
2. Recovery CD
3. Hidden partition on the hard drive with an image of the drive as
received from the factory, and some means to invoke that recovery process.

You need to check with the documentation that came with the computer on what
the recovery process is. Or contact the tech support for the computer
vendor.

Not sure what you mean in the statement, "i want to be able to do windows
updates without having to download scripts"
