I have a Dell laptop running windows xp sp2. Everytime i start it up it hangs
for about 2 - 3 minutes on restoring network connections before it gets to
the log on screen. Can someone give me an idea how i can take care of this.
The laptop is in a domain and it's set to DHCP. I've tried removing it from
the domain and back again but it has not made a difference. Thanks in advance
for any assistance you can give me.

Delays in logging into a domain member workstation are usually caused by
1) incorrect DNS settings; 2) searching for a network share that
doesn't exist any more.

For DNS the workstation should only be looking to the server, which
should only be looking to itself with forwarding zones set up for the
Internet access.

If DNS is set correctly on both the workstation and the server, check to
see if you have any network drives/shares mapped that no longer exist.

Thank you for the reply Mike. I don't have the laptop available anymore
today. I will take a look at the mappings tomorrow and reply. Thanks again.
