I am Using Microsoft Office 2000 Professional W/ Win98 SE. I cannot change
the Default Outlook Today Page. Both the Restore Defaults and the Browse
buttons are disable or dimmed in the Outlook Today Properties dialog box. I
have tried many of the solutions found on various websites, except those
suggesting to change/add Registry settings. Help!!!!

If you select Personal Folders at the top of your navigation tree and
right-click | Properties | Home Page is the box Address available to type
what you want in it? If so put this:

res://C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE\1033\outlwvw.dll/outlook.htm

Make sure you have this file outlwvw.dll in your Office\1033 folder. 1033
means English. If you are some other language you'll have a different
4-digit number there.

Hi George Hester, Thanks for your help.
However, the default Outlook Today Page is locked at -
res://C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE\1033\outlwvw.dll/outlook1.htm
Note Outlook1.htm.
I would like to be able to make changes to the Default Outlook Today Page
but both the Restore Defaults and the Browse buttons are disable or dimmed in
the Outlook Today Properties dialog box.

OK sometimes this can happen by Group (System) Policy settings. There is a set of adm files that can be used in Microsoft Office 2000. They come in the Resource Kit. What operating system are you using?

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling just Microsoft Outllook 2000. If you do that you may lose your account settings so make sure you know your POP3 and SMTP accounts before you do. You won't lose any of your pst files. You'll be OK there you just got to hook them up again once you reinstall.

Did you try this one? (you can't avoid editing the registry, if this is the
cause)

OL2000: You Cannot Customize Outlook Today After You Install Critical Update

You can edit the registry to make changes to Outlook Today.

Thanks Diane Poremsky,
I want to try the replacement for MSNBC's Outlook Today Page using a how-to
article from http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/oltoday.htm. I uninstalled
MSNBC's customized page some time ago. However, I cannot change the Default
Outlook Today Page. Both the Restore Defaults and the Browse buttons are
disable or dimmed in the Outlook Today Properties dialog box. Is there any
method to achieve this????
