Oh Please help if you can,
I installed SP2 by the book, downloaded drivers, did
everything I was suppose to but my system will not do a
restart after the installation is finished. I have to
hold the button in to power down then restart. I've read
every article to no avail. Doing numerous restores in
the last three days I think damaged the restore feature.
I was on the phone with HP tech for 14 hours yesterday
and one finally said to do a restore. It doesnt work now.
My question is can I restore the restore feature in XP?
I need help......
Also is there an issue with Mcafee firewall when its on
and set with SP2? I thought of that last night
afterwards.
Thanks for any feedback, I don't know who to turn to
anymore. I actually had to tell HP support what to do
because they keep telling me to delete SP2 and reinstall
it. GRRRRRRRRR..........

Thanks,
Roseanne

It hard to diagnose what is wrong when after an install
of sp2 and you reboot. To get more definitive
information. Open an internet connection Then Open up
event viewer, select system, look for red colored
entries, select one that correlates with time of boot
error. Then select microsoft link and reply yes. It will
open help and support page that might help you or you can
copy and paste the information here. If you need help
Open up help and support and search for "event viewer"

Ps you may have to remove sp2 before opening up event
viewer

I was just thinking. It may not be sp2 that's giving you
the problem at boot up.It probably is an application
program not windowx xp sp2 that's giving you a problem.

Here's what I do. You'll probably have to un-install sp2
first. Then re-install it. When it finishes and ask to
reboot , check box not to reboot. Then go to start / run
and run msconfig.exe. That will open. Check the box for
dianostic startup. Reply ok and it will reboot with just
system files loaded. Just maybe it will boot there.
Whence and if you boot up I would selectively start
applications with drivers and see if they have problems
starting.
