My Restore points only go back to Jan 2004 - Why? the Pc is about 1.5 years old.

Chris...

System Restore maintains Restore Points for a period of 90 days.
It uses first in - first out for purging.

Hi Chris,

My Restore points only go back to Jan 2004 - Why? the Pc is about 1.5 years old.

Chris...

There's only a limited amount of hard disk to devote to system restore
points. When new ones appear, the last ones are flushed. You can
right-click My Computer, go to properties, System Restore tab , and
click to change the settings.

Joyce,

Copy the following line an paste it to a command prompt (Start > Run >
cmd)

%SystemRoot%\System32\Restore\rstrui.exe

On the other hand, if you want to restore the pc to the condition when
it was new, with the loss of your data, the company who sold it to you
may have provided a 'Restore disk.' You just have to put that CD in
the CD ROM, boot from it, and the program will format and reinstall
XP.

You may have more information on the manuals that came with the
computer, or you can consult the manufacturer's web site.

Good luck

I strongly suggest that everyone create a desktop shortcut to system restore. My computer came up in Marlette font, and had I not done this, I never would have been able to find it!
