I create a restore point and did not realise I could not
go back any further after doing it. I need to go back
further what can I do? P L E A S E help me.

Yes, but once older restore points are removed you cannot regain them. I
believe this is what Marilyn was hoping for. Not possible.

Manually creating a rsoter point will not automatically
erase earlier restore points, unless you have allocated a
small amount of space to system restore. I regularly
create restore points, and XP creates others. On any day
I might have a half dozen or so restore points available.

However, the disk cleanup featreu of XP does has the
ability to remove all but the last restore point. Thne is
not normally a default setting, but the user can select it
under the more options tab.

The other thing that can destroy old restore points is
certain XP updates. SP-1 does this for sure. Some others
might also.

If system restore is not helping you, think about driver
roll-back, assuming that your desire to go back in time is
driver related. That is a separate system, but it only
permits a roll-back to the immediately previous driver.
Each device's drivers can be rolled back independently.

Another way to go back in time is to un-install a service
pack. These appear in the add/remove programs list
accessed from start, control panel. But, not all service
packs are removeable. Removing a service pack would make
sense if immediately after installing it the PC became
slow or unstable. Otherwise, most service packs are there
to help you and/or protect your PC and should be let alone.

It sounds to me as if she made a new point and then lost *all* the ones
preceding it. They can't be recovered, but the cause is likely to be a
lot of damaged files clogging up the folder, so that it appears
overfull, and to have only room for one point.

So to prevent it happening again, I recommend that she clean the folders
out and start it over. System Restore. Check 'Disable System Restore,
and OK, reboot. Now have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden
files, and *not* Hide Protected mode ones and delete everything in the
System Volume Information folder on each drive

Start SR up again, and I suggest reviewing the settings for each drive.
There is not much point having it enabled on data drives, and on ones
with System or Programs I would reduce the space allotted if more than
say 1GB - the default of 12% of a drive seems too much for its own good
on modern large drives
