I deleted some duplicate files through System Mechanic
(none with the red exclamation point) and now my printer
won't print. I reinstalled from disc and still no
response. Thought I would try System Restore, but it
shows no restore point before I deleted files. I cannot
go back to a previous month either.

Any help??

Hi

Has System Mechanic got an 'undo' option? If so, try that. It has propably
changed/deleted something that it shouldn't have done.

"Any help??"

1. Don't rely on anything but your own judgement in deciding whether to
delete a file. And if you're not 100% sure, don't make changes to your
system.

2. Does your tweaker program have an 'undo' function? Then use it.

3. Reinstall your printer driver.

4. If you deleted a protected system file, run the System File Checker:
Start > Run > sfc /scannow

and have your Windows XP installation CD handy. SFC will ask for the CD to
replace protected files that have been altered or deleted.

5. Re-install Windows XP.

Restore points can become corrupted; this is often the result of a virus
infection. Once one or more restore points have become corrupted, all
restore points are useless and need to be deleted. You do this by turning
off System Restore on all drives and rebooting. After your computer starts
again, turn on System Restore.

If you're going to be reinstalling XP, existing restore points will be
erased.
