What application should I select to restore Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer? When I double click on a
picture, a pop-up window asks me to select an application
to view the image file. I just uninstalled a photo
editor that took the place of the Picture and Fax Viewer
for viewing photos.

IN the popup windows find and select Windows Fax and Picture Viewer.
Check the box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file"
OK

Very common. What I did was just select the MS Picture Viewer from the list, while checking the checkbox to "ALWAYS USE THIS PROGRAM FOR THIS FILE TYPE". I had to do that for each my main image filetypes, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIF, etc.. If you don't see the program on the list you're looking at, then in Windows Explorer go to Tools/File Types and do it in there.

Thanks for your quick response. My additional problem is
that Micorsoft Picture and Fax Viewer doesn't appear in
the popup as an application I can select, nor can I find
it when I do a search on Picture and Fax viewer.
