My computer did not come with a Restore CD. Can I create
one for future crashes. I recently had to reload from
scratch. I would prefer to be able to restore using a
restore CD. How can I create or obtain one for my future
reference.

Thanks,
Sincerely,

Yes I do have a full blown XP CD. However, when I try to
repair or restore a corrupted HD it prompts for a Restore
CD. I was able to access all of my files without wiping
out the HD and reloading XP with a repair. We have lots
of power outages that cause my operating system to lock
up.

You may create a "Hard Drive Image" of your system to restore the whole
hard drive to a good running system. Try 3rd pary software such as WinImage,
or Ghost, or one of the other available programs.
You may search www.google.com for Hard Drive Image software and you should
get quite a few hits for creating a "Restore CD"

You could create an image of the drive at some point, which would be much
like the restore CDs that some of the oems use. You'd need a 3rd party
program like Drive Image or Ghost. But that would do exactly what you don't
want it to do -- it would restore the computer back to the point it was at
when you made the image, thus wiping out any new files you've created.

You're probably best off using your XP CD to do a repair install.

Also, if you've got that many problems with the power, you'd also be wise to
keep your important files backed up onto CDs or something. So far you've
been lucky in that you've just had software problems. If the hard drive
fails mechanically, you'll be faced with the choice of paying a recovery
company hundreds of dollars to retrieve your files, or just losing them all.
