Directly after the recent MS updates, I've lost the use of the Restore
modual. Out of the 4 machines that has been updated, ALL 4 machines have
lost the use of the Restore function. All that happens is the Application
Error window will open asking if I want to send the error report to MS.

Does anyone have any Ideas??

Do you have an HP? If so, there were patches - including one for System
Restore - that needed to be installed prior to Service Pack 2.

My HP laptops are running fine after the updates received over the last
several weeks from MS. The machines that I am having the problem with are
Ausus systems. These machines had SP2 loaded in them last fall when the SP2
was first released.

Then I guess you need to uninstall the most recent updates and see which
one is giving your particular machines the issue. I haven't seen
anything like that here, but there are so many combinations of hardware
and software possible in PC's, that certainly doesn't invalidate your
experience.

Hi, or maybe contact the laptop's manufacture to see if they know of a
particular patch issue......

Hi David,

I would suggest reinstalling System Restore.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the windows\inf folder. Find
the sr.inf file, right click on it and select Install.
Test System Restore.
