Restoration Incomplete Error

Hi.

I've tried four times to return my computer to how it was
earlier today. Each time I tried a different restore
point and each time the restoration was unsuccessful.

It's very important that I restore my system today, so
I'm obviously concerned as to why I am getting this
error. Windows XP was only installed yesturday so I have
no idea what may be causing the problem.

I would welcome any help you could offer.

Thank you.

Hi

If XP was installed yesterday, why not revert to the initial System restore checkpoint? Is the some vital reason that you need to restore one of today's (time diff?) checkpoints?

I can restore to any checkpoint as long as it was created
more than approximately five hours ago. I do really need
to sort the problem today though if possible.

I've just tried going back to the initial checkpoint and
I am still getting the same error. The restoration was
not successful.

I don't know if this is any help, but I've just checked
the system error log (in Control Panel > Administrative
Tools > Computer Management), and before the failed
restoration there are two error messages logged. Both
read:

"AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO
port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff
protected address range. This could lead to system
instability. Please contact your system vendor for
technical assistance."

Does this give any clues at all? The same two errors
appear before every failed restoration attempt.

Thanks.
