Restart does not work

I have upgraded in my Laptop Compaq Presario 18XL580 from ME to XP Professional. All the prorams are working fine, except that when I install any software that require reboot or simply if I want to restart the laptop, XP closs all the programs, but the laptop shows a dark blue screen and does nt respond to any keys. I have to power down and restart the computer. Compaq website does not give any bios update beyond Windows ME. s there any fix for this

You should have run a compatibility check, prior to upgrading the o/s. Its
highly probable that you have hardware that is incompatible with winxp, and
I dare say that compaq will not supply winxp drivers
So is there a fix; probably not.
