when i play games, i get a green and blue box in the middle of the screen called a Resolution Notice indicating for best picture quality change to 1024x768 resolution, and options to press #1 to exit or #2 to disable, neither of which works. the resolution is already set at 1024x768, and the box appears incessantly for several seconds then goes away whether i press 1 or 2. i spent hours last night with hp instant help, they had me try numerous things, nothing worked. anyone have any ideas or encountered this problem?

You have to have it, because see, I had it before, I knew I didn't have to have it present, because it turns my computer off after 15 minutes and I wish to set the number to a certain, amount of time! I had to ask Microsoft what to do about this problem, and they told me to just Erase the filre...My computer crashed and I had to re-do this! Why does IBM, Have it set the timer on, when u buy a computer? I don't use this Timer function, I suggest ALL IBM Makers to eliminate this file and Create a timer file, which U have to have set to ON, INSTEAD of automatically on! I had to FIND HELP From the zone! Also, IF U Create things for the zone, I would suggest you create your statistics file to show things such as your Average Final Score...

Well, that's not a Windows XP error message, or at least not one that I'm
aware of, and it's not a message from your games since you're getting that
same message from all your games if I understand your post correctly, therefore:

1. If the games are all by the same manufacturer, check their FAQ about the error

2. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php

3. Update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, &Video Drivers:
For all Video / DirectX / Game and Hardware Issues, I have a
Checklist of Solutions at: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html
* Check all the troubleshooting steps at that last URL please! :-)
