Is there a freeware program that will resize a jpg picture to a larger
size correctly. I have tried XnView and IrfanView with no luck. The
image becomes distorted. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Look for image resizer, install it. Right click on image and select
resize. Easy.

Note that jpg images being increased in size significantly will lose
quality, but if only small increase you may not notice.

Microsoft's Image Resizer Power Toy might be helpful.

BTW the distortion may be due to the picture's size being increased too
much. If that is the case then PhotoFiltre might be a better solution.

I tried this, but can't find the new picture. I also tried the option to
resize and save the same picture. It didn't change. ???

Hmm, for me it leaves the new image resized in the same folder as
original but renamed with (medium) or whatever in the new filename.

IrfanView will do a good job for this: Image menu > Resize/Resample,
set the desired size and select "Resample" under "Size Method".

Mind you: enlarging bitmap pictures will ALWAYS degrade picture
quality. You can only try to minimize the degradation.

I'll jus add, make sure you have the 'preserve aspect ratio' box ticked,
otherwise the image will (obviously) distort!

Thanks... Maybe it's just something with my system. I even tried
reinstalling the resizer, but I still get nothing. Strange.

Thanks for everyones help. I guess the picture just gets distorted
when you enlarge it.

Thanks again!

After installing and finding out it doesn't work how do you un-install
xppowertoys.mspx?

Thanks

All the programs featured on the xppowertoys.mspx webpage are .exe's,
that are easily uninstalled using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the
Conrol Panel.

Thanks $1E6-man, but I can't find it in the Add/Remvoe list. I
checked thoroughly.

I even have Advanced Uninstaller and it's not listed there, either.

RU saying if I just search for the proggie and delete it that that
will do it? (I'm searching for it now.)
(I found it in the Local Service\Temporary Internet Files. That's not
the answer then.) Have any more suggestions?

Thanks.

Irfanview works although there may be better ones.
Use Control r, be sure your original has enough resolution for the
new size and make sure you keep the aspect ratio the same.
