Maybe I'm totally missing something.. Can I share files with my two
computers that are using on DSL connection through a hub?
I've tried the wizard and select "other" as "connection method, then
computer is named. Next network is named. I've turned on file and printing
sharing, then it is ready to apply, it configures... Then tells me I need
to run it on each computer --- I say just finish b/c the other computer has
the wiz and I have ran it..---Is this where I'm going wrong? Then it tellms
me I have successfully set it up..
Now ---how do I view those files?
Perhaps this is too stupid a question for the experts?

Assuming you have setup both computer to share each other, can you ping each by IP or name?

YOu'll only be able to see shared folders and drives. Did you set things to
"share" on each machine? Or use the default share folder?

Are you sure that you have a hub, not a router? What is the make and
model number of your device?

It's hard to share files using a DSL connection through a hub if the
computers get public IP addresses from your ISP. Check the IP address
of each computer by right-clicking the LAN connection and clicking
Status > Support. If the IP address is in one of these ranges, you
have a router:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

Most home networks that use DSL have a router. It's easy to share
files through a router, because it assigns private IP addresses to the
computers. In that case, run the Network Setup Wizard on each
computer. If the Wizard detects the router's shared Internet
connection, tell it to use that. Otherwise, tell it that the computer
connects to the Internet through a residential gateway.
