I've forgotten my Admin and user account passwords (been
away for a couple of months). I have a reset disk and
I've tried to follow the directions under the microsoft
articles to reset the password using the disk.
But, according to the articles, I should get an option to
reset the password using the disk when my logon fails, but
I don't get that option.
Can anyone offer any ideas?

Thanks
Don

No. I tried that first and got a 'Non-system disk' error.
Then I looked at the files on the disk, Sys.com, Fdisk,
ndd.exe, a reg key, a userpw (to the effect of) file, but
nothing that gave anything useful. That's when I checked
MS online on another machine. But, as you'd expect, their
instructions don't follow what actually appears... No
option to use the reset disk.

Have you tried safe mode?

Yep when you want to change a password of winxp you need
a program i called ERD COMMANDER
you need to burn this program to a cd en you need to boot
from it. Than you can change your password.

I did try safe mode, still wanted a login password.
I was going to contact MS Customer support online, but
they require a Prod. ID, which I can't get until I log
in.
