Hi Budlight,
With a used system you purchase in a pawn shop you will have other security
concerns besides simply getting past the logon password. There's no telling
what kind of malware might be on that system.
You should use a retail copy of Windows XP, boot with the Windows XP Setup
Disk, Format all partitions, and install clean. Your only cost would be the
software unless you already have a copy, then there's possibly no
additional cost.
