I might add that the first time I put it in I got a message that mentioned
'voltages' and the word 'reset'.

Have you installed the USB drivers that came on the CD with your
motherboad?

Did you try the suggestion that Malke gave you in the networking-wireless
ng.

I'm thinking of dumping the PC as I already have 3 desktops and a laptop.
This one was given to me its got a Pentium Celeron 400 MHz processor. Thats
pretty old isn't it?

I would guess that it is old, if you run a network have you thought of
using it for a backup machine ?

I see <g> have you got something like Belarc installed on it which will
tell you the manufacturer of the motherboard, you may then be able to get
drivers from them.
Just a thought
Joan

Yes if that's what you decide to do but I'm no expert with regards the
inner workings of the computer so was just throwing out ideas for you <g>
Did you mention what OS you were running on this machine, I can't remember
?
Joan

Right, is that with all service packs and updates.
Sorry I can't help anymore than what has already been suggested, so good
luck whatever you do with the machine.
