Hi.I would like any advice on how to perform a "reset" of my PC before I sell
it.I would prefer not to do a restore as I have most patches and updates
downloaded as well as additional programmes. Are there specific things I
should do to clean it up?

I would recommend that you sysprep it and delete all the data files .
This should bring you back to a pre-sell state

When you sell a computer with a Microsoft operating system and some
programs installed, you need to provide the buyer with the CD's for the
OS and those programs. The way to prepare a computer for resale is to
either wipe the hard drive with something Darik's Boot and Nuke and
then format/clean install the operating system. Unless you do this,
there will always be information about you on the hard drive.

You should also use a "shredder" program to clean the hard drive of any
traces of deleted files.

BC Wipe and Shred2 are a couple of good programs to do this.
