I wish to find out if it's possible for anyone to steal my IP Address, Password, Personal Info to download and send out the downloads to other persons or computers without me knowing it. I believe this has happened to me. Please reply and thanks.

Perhaps you have a virus... Basically, anything you can do from your
computer using your keyboard is possible by anyone from anywhere if you have
access to a network...

A network could be one other machine in your home or office, or it could be
the internet (one big worldwide network). You might have received an email
or something.... Invest in some anti-virus program - this will reduce
problems from Trojans (ie perhaps you receive an attachment in an email
which you open - this could contain malicious code that would activate from
a simple action like you opening/reading/viewing it). If you have
cable/high-speed internet access, then invest in a hardware router or
firewall (the router is cheapest) it will reduce direct attacks from the
outside world... XP comes with its own firewall but I believe it doesn't do
packet checking and has other weaknesses... I hope nobody flames me on this
belief... Its something I've read somewhere... sorry that I can't recall the
source.... Even with all of this preparation, there is no 100% guaranteed
method of protecting yourself from visitors when you are on a network... The
only guaranteed method of protecting your data from being destroyed or
shared, or both is to disconnect it from any network and never use
diskettes/software/data from a source that you feel is suspect.

Virus's/Worms/Attacks know no boundaries... My router at home gets at least
ten "visits" an hour from CodeRed worm infected machines... I'm in
Vancouver, Canada and I've used some Linux tools to do my best and trace the
source to some of them to be as close as Toronto... others from the US,
Korea, Taiwan and Philipines... and once... from some Iranian college...
however... technology exists that the originators could have spoofed their
IP addresses to be from anywhere.
