no matter what type of report I create there is always a label that restricts
the way that I can edit the report in design view. Is there a way to remove
the labels?

In design view, you can select the label and delete it. You can also move it
by using the selection handle in the upper-left corner of the selected
label.

thanks. that much I know but I currently have a report with a label and an
identical box where the data is entered. I can only move the two around and
they seem to be linked. When I delete the label the data box goes too! I need
to remove the label, still retain the data box and then move the boxes around
independantly. Any help?

I used the wizard to set up the report if that hepls.

Much appreciated!!!!!

You should be able to move just the label if you select it only and use the
mouse to grab only the larger selection handle on the upper left hand
corner. The mouse cursor changes to a small hand when you get it right.

Likewise, selecting only the label will allow you to delete it. If you
select the control, and hit delete, everything goes.

And yes, the label is associated, sometimes called a sticky label.

If you select and cut the label, you can then use Ctrl+V to paste it and it
will be then disassociated with the control. Like wise you can reassociate
it by selecting and cutting it, then selecting the control and pasting.
