I've recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled. After installing XP,
SP2, some other updates, plus MS Office 2003 and Norton System works, 5.5 GB
of my hard drive were being used.

I installed Unreal 2 (2.5GB) and Halo (1.4 GB). Then I removed Unreal 2,
and the amount of used space on the drive is still about 8.8 GB, which
doesn't match if you do the math.

Fo if anyone could point me to a utility that could map out my drive usage,
or otherwise tell me what NTFS is doing with the phantom space, I'd
appreciate it.

I mean, it's not like I'm lacking space. 29 GB are free and unused on the
drive. I'm just curious.

Thanks.

Norton protected file bin is keeping the deleted files. Empty it.

You know something? I tried that right after posting my original message,
and it solved the problem. If I had thought of it *before* posting, this
thread would never have got started. Funny how things work.

Thanks anyway.

Yeah it's funny how the brain works, or doesn't, sometimes.
