Why not? What difference does it make?

Because as this is a group with a LOT of traffic, most seasoned regulars
here only disply unread messages. if the Subject is changed, then it looks
like a NEW post and not a rweply to an old thread.

He did. No one knows what the OP was talking about.

No he did not. he didn't quote ANYTHING. Hence my post.

Set your newsreader up to show by threads, not by subjects.

Yes, he did:

That's all the OP posted.

If you sort the NG by From you'll find the thread he is replying to.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/u2A#[email protected]

and rick replied

news://msnews.microsoft.com/[email protected]

and then Essoc started a new thread with his reply to Rick. So I added Rick's name to the subject so he'd be more likely to see it.

I don't want to, but thanks anyway. People need to learn to keep a
discussion within the thread. Why should anyone change their sort
options because some nimrod doesn't know usenet?

That was good of you. I wouldn't have bothered.

Thanks for your timely reply. As you quoted I know what you are talking about. Though it is only chance I saw your reply.
