I am using Outlook2003 on Wondows XP
I have a number of different accounts set up in Outlookk and everything
works 99%. However on one account xxxxxx@ when I reply or forward any mail
received on this account, Outlook automatically tries to send the reply using
another account i.e. yyyyyy. The xxxxxx is my default account.

This does not happen on any of the other accounts.

Any help and assiatnce would be gratefully received

Under some conditions, if the main account doesn't properly authenticate,
Outlook will choose another account. There is an article in the MSKB
describing this as well as a hotfix you can order to alleviate the problem.

I tried to search the MSKB prior to posting but could not find any info - do
you or anyone else have a reference number ?

Thanks

Actually, we decided not to issue a hotfix, because it wouldn't really do
you any good. Once you'd applied it, your mail through the affected
account would start bouncing (you'd get non-delivery reports) and you'd
have to set up authentication to your outgoing server to send mail. But
setting up authentication solves the problem you're hitting *without* the
hotfix as well, so everybody saves time without the hotfix.

As Brian says, properly authenticating to the outgoing server of the
account that is not working should fix the problem.
