Replacing xp pro with xp pro

I installed my previously registered copy of Xp Pro on a
second computer. After discovering I needed a new license
I just decided to buy another copy of XP Pro for the
second computer. What is the easiest way to install the
new unregistered version of XP and replace the first
version? Is a full installation needed or is there a way
to just replace the product key code?

Did you activate on the second computer? If so, personally I'd leave it
alone until you need to reactivate one of the copies, then, when the
activation wizard opens, take the option to activate over the phone. You'll
then be able to change your product key. Do so, cancel out of the
activation wizard, restart it and activate over the Internet, otherwise,
it's not really worth worrying about until you need to reactivate...

If you didn't activate, then the same instructions apply, start the
activation wizard and proceed as above....

I didn't activate the second computer yet. I didn't think
I could until I got a new copy of xp. I wasn't sure if
the Microsoft website would recognize the copy as being
registered already and disable the system! Thanks for the
advise, my 30 days to register are counting down so I'll
use the activate over the phone method.

unless it forces you to register dont bother. You have two license with two
computers (youre covered).
