I have purchased a new HP with Vista already loaded, but it is horrible...I
want to revert back to XP...THere is nothing about Vista that I can find that
XP can't work circles around...I have more trouble with Vista than I ever had
with XP or any prior version...HELP!

What do you want help with? If you want to go back to XP, go and buy an XP
disk, and go back to it.

Hi,

Purchase a copy of XP, there are plenty still available, and install it on
your system. Make sure there are drivers available from the manufacturer
before doing so. Also, as this is essentially a downgrade, you will need to
remove the existing system partition and create a new one, then format it
before installing XP. You cannot install it over the top of Vista. Any data
currently on the drive will be lost.

You have two choices.. give yourself some time to become acclimatized to the
new OS, or go back to your vendor and ask what they can do for you..

HAHA! this is one of the guys of the thousands I was talking about
that microsoft counts as "sold copies of vista"

MS did not count:

1st) not counting all the people that take vista back for XP,
or

2nd) those who are very unhappy with vista and cant do anything about it
because their pc came with vista, or they have installed it already and are
horrified...

3rd) not counting the people who have got vista,
but formatted it and installed linux or pirated XP because
Vista stinks....

4th) Or the people that have Vista, leave it on, but dual boot with XP or
linux
and boot to vista only to laugh at microsofts horrible os.

5th) Or those who use vmware or virtual pc just to get some apps running....
actually spending more time on the virtual pc than on vista itself!

You do realize that by changing the operating system on your new computer
you are likely voiding the warranty that came with the new computer.

Take the computer back and go to a local builder, or a major player, that
will sell you a computer with Windows XP installed.

You think?

HP doesn't give you media to return. I guess that you mean return the hard
drive that houses Vista and have them send you a hard drive that has Windows
XP on it.

You just return the computer and get what you really want/need.

If you contact HP for service, having problems with Windows XP (though Vista
was supplied), the first thing that HP will do is tell you to restore the
computer to the way it was when purchased. This means that Vista must again
be on it.

In case, you have some time to spend, install XP, too, on your machine.
As a dual boot system. I just did it, and I use XP for productive work, and
Vista "to play a bit with a new OS".
And to wonder, for what are all the HW resources used for in Vista.
