Hi
I currently have Trend Micro PC-cillin as a anti virus
program and would like to replace it with a Norton
Symantec Anti virus program and would like to know what
the pest practices would be to do this? Are there any
pitfalls to lookout for? Thanks.

Uninstall the old program. I like to restart at this point and clear out
any debris in the temp folders once Windows is loaded again. Install the
new program.

You may want to visit Trend Micro's website. Double check their FAQ's or
online technical documents to double check that there aren't extra caveats
regarding the uninstall of the software.

Physically disconnect from the internet
Uninstall old program.
Install new program.
Reconnect to the internet and update virus definitions for new program.
Job done.

Greetings --

Disconnect the computer from the Internet if you have a broadband
connection, remove the old antivirus application, reboot, and install
the new product. Make sure your firewall is enable, and reconnect to
the Internet to download the most recent virus definition files for
your new antivirus app.
