Replace my PC

I want to replace my PC, but I don't want to spend the extra money on buying a new copy of XP
Can I "de register" XP, or will I need to contact Microsoft if I want to put my copy on this other pc
Naturally, I won't be using my older computer anymore
Please help!
 
How do I "deactivate", move to another computer, or sell a previously activated XP?

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
