Repeated notification of the same item on Windows Update

Every time I have turned on my computer for about the
past 2 weeks, I my Automatic Update downloads and wants
me to install the update for the following.

"Security Update for Microsoft Windows (819696)"

I install it, then the next time I turn on my computer,
it happens again.

I even tried going to windowsupdate.com and installed the
update there. Same result. I install it, it reports
successful, then if I re-scan for updates it says I need
that update.

Seems like a bug with the update. Any suggestions??

See "Windows Update Site Lists Updates That You Already Installed"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319109). The problem should also
go away after you installed the SP2 which will be available via
Windows Update in a few days.

I tried that...no luck. Also, there is no entry in the
registry for this update. I checked another computer I
own, and it has entries for this update in the registry,
under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows
XP\SP1 and also \SP2.

On the problem computer, no such entries exist. The
Windows Update Log file shows no errors, just repeated
installations of the same patch.
 
KB article was no help. That's where I started, of
course. I don't mind waiting for SP2 to see if it's
fixed, but I still want to know the cause.
 
Also, I deleted the CatRoot2 folder, and re-ran the
update as suggestion on the page listed below. No new
CatRoot2 folder was created.
