Hi,

When using MS Word XP I can hit F4 to repeat my last action.
Is this function available in MS Excel XP and if so how do I get to it.

Cheers,

Take a look under Edit. You'll see that Repeat xxxx changes to match the last
thing you did.

My bet is the last thing you did was create a new workbook????

(I agree with you. It should be "repeat the last thing that I want repeated!"

This is interesting. It appears that the problem is defining "the last
thing I did". Here is what I did:
Opened a new blank workbook.
I hit F4
It did what you said, opened another new workbook. OK so far.
I then entered "Hello" into a cell.
I hit F4
It opened another new, blank, workbook.
Am I missing something here? Thanks again. Otto

I appreciate your help. I think I have a better handle on this now.
Thanks. Otto

Entering text into a cell can't be repeated. (Dunno why, but there you
have it.)

Try entering text into several cells, then go back and make the first
cell bold. Then try F4 (or Ctrl+y).

In general, if you're not sure if your last action can be repeated or
not, look on the Edit menu. If the "Repeat [xyz...] Ctrl+Y" command
is disabled, it can't be repeated.
