Hi Wesley, I too have the same problem and can get my desktop computer
to start up pass the dos error screen. I can not restore nor get pass the
error
message of the Bad BOOT.ini and missing or corrupt file...\system32\hal.dll.
Have no way to re-install that file.
If you find an answer please could you share your fix?
If I get or find a fix I shall be happy to pass it on to you!
Meanwhile if anyone comes across how I might restore my Winxp-pro, I would
be very appreciative!

Are you getting any error messages?
