I upgraded from Me to Xp two years ago. I have some troubles now that I think I could correct reinstalling Xp home edition, but my upgrade disk gives two options: 1- Upgrade or 2-New Installation. I would like to be sure that if I run again Upgrade all my installed programs be without any change. That is what says setup, but I don't know if it refers to Me programs when I upgraded for first time or refers to my Xp programs.

Hello
If you are doing an upgrade then you will start the computer then put the cd
in and choose Upgrade all your files should be left intact, but it is always
a good idea to backup all your important info. before beginning just in case
something goes wrong.
Disconnect everything but the Monitor, Mouse & Keyboard before beginning.
After finish enable the firewall and visit the Windows Update site and
download all the updates.

Do not choose Full install or you will end up with 2 installs.

If you are wanting to wipe everything out and do a full install then you
will need to put the cd in then shut the computer off and start the computer
with the cd in, as long as your ROM drive is set to boot before the
harddrive then it will start loading the files. Follow the instructions on
the link below.

If you have a retail XP disk , your best option is to perform a repair
install. This will retain files and folders but will repair the troubles
that you are having now. Hopefully :) . Jym
