I am having some problems on a windows 2000 server that started with
major virus trouble. I removed\quarunteed all of the infections but now
I'm having strange problems that I can't find an answer to. Can I run a
repair installation on it without loosing any of my network shares, active
directory information, dns setup, printers...etc....?
Thanks for your time. Tom

If one of my servers got infecteced by a virus then I would
rebuild it. Servers play a key role in most organisations, and
having suffered a virus infection means that there are now
serious doubts about its integrity.

After rebuilding the server I would take a snapshot of it, either
using one of the well-known imaging programs or even something
as simple as zip.exe in conjunction with a Bart PE CD. Doing
this would make it much easier to restore the server on
future occasions.
